The prime spot in Chandigarh, after you are done with gazing at the lake, is Nek Chand’s Rock Garden. Enter from the doorway from where you park your car, through the narrow corridors into a unique kingdom , a labyrinth with hills, waterfalls and caves, serried ranks of sculptures crafted from such unlikely material as discarded neon lights, fuse switches, broken crockery and glass. Plan on at least 2-3 hours here.
Most structures will astonish, for their craftsmanship. At the end of the day spend some time on the swings, placed between massive pillars which is also a place for the lovers to get playful. The Rock Garden is a refreshing contrast to Le Corbusier’s severely symmetrical cityscape.
